Average Cost Of Flowers At a Wedding

Average Cost Of Flowers At a Wedding

Though of course the father of the bride is usually very happy to hear the news, during the current financial climate the news is often accompanied as well by a pang of panic and dollar signs. The cost of weddings is showing no signs of slowing its rise despite the drop in people disposable income and therefore attempting to save a little bit of cash here and there in the preparations is likely to appear incredibly attractive. In my opinion one of the best ways to achieve this is via your choice of flowers. With the average cost of flowers for a wedding making up about ten percent of the average cost of a wedding as a whole, it can definitely be a worthwhile endeavour provided you do not go too far. Here are my three ways of coming in below the average price of flowers for a wedding and yet not coming out as overly cheap.

Beating the Average Cost of Flowers at a Wedding Option #1

The first method of course is to simply purchase cheaper flowers. This of course rules out even the mention of the word roses but that does not mean that beautiful flower arrangements are not possible. Particularly nice flowers that are lower than the average cost of flowers for a wedding are Gerber Daisies. The reason that these are such a good choice is that they come in a very wide variety of colours and as such can be manipulated into incredibly fancy arrangements provided enough time is spent on them. Such arrangements can take up a lot of time but will ensure that your flower bills are far lower without sacrificing a whole lot aesthetically.

The next option is to purchase fewer flowers. You may think that this is obvious but the key to this method is to pick a flower with wide blooms. Therefore though you purchase far fewer flowers, those that you do purchase will take up far more space individually and therefore the fact that you have purchased very few should not easily spotted. A perfect example if the hydrangea but it is by no means the only option. Hydrangeas come in purple, pink, blue and white and therefore as well as saving you a bit of cash can lead to a very elegant and yet laid back ceremony. You are more likely to be rewarded for your taste than punished for your budget.

Beating the Average Cost of Flowers at a Wedding Option #3

My last option is without doubt the cheapest. If you really want to spend less than the average price of flowers for a wedding, why not simply pick your own? This may sound incredibly cheap but have you ever been to a wedding with nothing but sunflowers. These can easily be picked free of charge and though timing the picking right, preserving them and finding an overall colour scheme that doesn't clash with yellow and brown can be difficult, the result can be a beautiful floral arrangement that didn't cost you a penny.
